Chipper’s Wish Fulfilled – Baseball Gods Gave Us One
Two years ago, during Christmas, I met Brad Lidge at a casino in Vegas. My family and I were having a little celebration and gift exchanging. I look over at the other table and there was Brad Lidge. Brad must have still been there since the Winter meetings. He looked lonely, so I invited him to join in. 5 minutes before the secret santa, I ran to the gift shop, and got Lidge a MGM Grand T-Shirt and a “Viva Los Vegas” snowglobe. He was surprised and embarrassed because he didn’t get me anything…. Until today.
Ok. Well that didn’t really happen, but Lidge did give Braves fans a huge gift; A win, in the bottom of the 9th.
I’ll be honest, I woke up at 6:00 Atlanta time, so I missed most of the game. I did see a couple of good plays. I was really impressed with Kenshin Kawa-Kick@ss nailing Ibanez at third. That definitly saved a run from scoring.

Nate McLouth re-aggravated his hamstring, something I called yesterday when I saw him run. Usually he runs always looking forward, with his elbows in a 90° angle, arms thrusting. Instead, he was looking back, and had on of his arms down to his side. Big problem.
MFIKY (Soriano) is apparently injured. I have a hard time believing all these Braves injures. They’re always minor thing. Kelly Johnson’s was definitely fake. He was out of options so FO put him on the DL and gave him “rehab assignments.” Kinda like sending him to AAA.
Just watched the highlights; Garret Anderson made a spectacular catch and Escobar made an even better attempt to get out of his way. Good play.
Here’s to hoping Nate and Raffy have a speedy recovery. Go Braves!!!

It’s Official, I Love Nate McLouth
The past three games, Nate McLouth is hitting .357 with a double, 1 homerun, 2 rbi’s, and 2 stolen bases. And the past three games he has persuaded me to form a “Man Crush” on him, if you will. I don’t know which of the two is more impressive.
What I do know is he has sparked this team. I think he’s lighten a much need fire under the offense, and he’s very aggressive. Not “Hey! I’m Francouer, watch me swing at the first pitch”, or even “Ola, soy es Yunel Escobar, watcho me groundo outo into el double playo.” More like “Wassup, I just singled so now I’m gunna swipe second to get a run.” (I imagine thats how Frenchy, Yunel, and Nate all talk.)
I prefer Nate (The Great) to hit leadoff rather than third for a slew of reasons, the first being that Chipper hates hitting fourth and has a great amount of pride that goes with that spot. Why I say this is because Chipper subtlety blames the batting order for the 2 shutouts, I don’t have the exact quote but to paraphrase, ‘All I know is when I was hitting 4th, we we’re shutout twice. When I go back to the 3rd hole, we win. Now, I’m no mathematician but…’ blah blob blah. The second reason is because he is the best prototypical leadoff hitter we have, and lastly he is a nice gap – gap hitter.
Oh by the way, since Chipper has survived the dizziness, he has had the two best games of the season. Which is why I propose that when he is on deck, instead of taking swings, put the bat against his forehead, then place the barrel on the ground, and spin around 20 times. Not only will his BA raise, but I gurantee you it will put more fans in the seats.
Also, MLB Trade Rumors reports that the Redsox are interested in a mystery shortstop from the Braves. And if you scroll down on the comments, someone posted the following from “Bill Shank’s Board”
TO BOSTON: TO MILWAUKEE: TO ATLANTA: I think its TOO BIG of a move for Atlanta to pull off soon, but It benefits all teams really. It’s nice to dream isn’t it?

Nate McLouth’s Batting Spilts By Batting Order
“”:http://Yes, after days of searching, I have found these stats! And I will analyze them for you now. In the 2009 season, Nate hsa batted in three different order spots: 1st, 3rd, and 4th. While batting lead off, he has compiled 7 ABs including 3 hits, a double, a homerun, 2 RBI’s and a walk. While batting third, he has 161 ABs, with 39 hits, 6 double, 1 triple, 20 walks, 32 RBIs and 8 homeruns. While batting clean up, Nate 4 ABs, with one hit.
I think it’s time we testing him at leading off a few more times to see if he can keep that up. For these stats and more splits, Here is the link
